The linear landscape of the central park access is organised and defined by a series of distinct environments created by distinct planting strategies.  The park strip is conceived as a transect through a typical sequence of coastal vegetation types.  Each type gives a unique spatial and textural quality to the adjacent neighbourhoods whilst suggesting different programmatic and built responses.  Living and working on the edge of a pine plantation is different from living and working beside a coastal wildflower meadow.  This landscape element contains both hard and soft open spaces, spaces for recreation and filter beds to contain and purify water run off from adjacent streets and roofs.
